New Yorker Cover
For this project, I got to design my own New Yorker Cover. For those not familiar, The New Yorker is a magazine that has a custom designed cover for each week it is released. There has never been the same cover twice. For my cover, I decided to design it all by hand. I wanted to the capture the rough nature of a college student.
In this cover, you can see a variety of references to the chaos that a college student must traverse in order to make it through to graduation. Struggles such as, social media, homework, and jobs, are all very common amongst many college students trying to earn their degrees.
Process
Initial Concept
This is the initial sketch that helped me pick the direction I wanted to go.
Sketch
This is the more drawn-out idea. This is where I started to finalize the design and details.
Inking
This is the inking of the sketch after scanning it into my computer.
Final Deliverables
I enjoyed this project. It challenged me to draw on my tablet and practice drawing in a digital medium instead of using regular pencil and paper. I am very happy with how the colors turned out. I think that this cover portrayed everything I was hoping it would.
